How do I know if I have a rodent problem?

During the early stages of infestation you are likely to see damage to property and stock – both rats and mice need to gnaw so there is potential to damage buildings and sometimes electrical cables. Droppings are also an indication of rodents – their size and the amount will help determine how severe the infestation is and which pest needs to be controlled. With well established infestations there is likely to be footprints/track marks on dusty areas, smear marks (a build up of grease and dirt along specific runs), urine pillars and the very familiar ‘rodent’ smell.
